Willow River
WI State Park
2024 & 2020

The first time we visited Willow River WI State Park P was 6, T was 4, and V was 2.

The first time we visited was in August 2020, I had taken the kids with Marcus's mother. This great park is 22 miles (~25 minutes) from our house, so this is a perfect day trip spot. We loved it so much that we have been back several times.

The first week of September 2020 we decided to take the kids camping there. P was in online 1st grade and T had his first day of pre-school while we were camping there. We knew we could get cell service so we decided it was fine to go camping during the week.

We've been in the winter before as well. Be careful, some of the trails are icy in the winter.

Itinerary 2024 Trip

Day 1 - October 19

Campsite 130 - we booked this late, and there wasn't a lot of options. This campsite had a path to get onto the main trail. It was close to the vault toilets. There were bushes surrounding the campsite, but not many trees to offer shade.

We decided to risk it and leave our house right after lunch.

12:15 p.m. - Check to see if campsite was empty

Dinner: Hot dogs & burgers
