Camping Food Tips

Over the years we have found different ingredients work best for us. I'm sharing them here with you.

  • Spreadable butter

  • Pancake mix

    • If we need to go lighter on food we will pick the one that only requires water though they don't taste as good. If we can, we'll get the ones that require milk

  • Dried Milk

    • This packs small and is great for pancakes and cobblers that call for milk.

  • Ice tea mix

    • When

  • Sourdough bread

    • It doesn't get crushed as easily and is hearty

  • Uncut watermelon

    • We bring a watermelon every time we go camping. It stays fresh longer uncut, and doesn't need to be in the cooler. So we find a place the watermelon wont roll around and put it there until we're ready to eat it. We like to get multiple of the smaller watermelons as my family can eat one in a setting. If we are going with another family/group we'll bring a big one.

  • Jimmy Dean's Fully cooked breakfast patties

    • We take these out of the box, freeze them and put them in our cooler. It makes them easy to use and place in random spots in the cooler.

  • 2 - 1/2 gallons of milk. We will open one, and pour a little out (to drink), then freeze it. That way by the time we are through the first 1/2 gallon the other one is thawed out or close to. The 1/2 gallons are easier to deal with putting back in the cooler when it's full. My kids love milk, and we usually have cereal a few times, so it's a must bring for us.
